Pair of Elm Shanxi Side Chairs w100 used as a daybed inShanxi, circa 1880 These elegant antique side chairs are made from elm wood, and have a lovely patina particularly on the seats, where the original dark finish has worn to the more natural wood colour beneath. The head rails are joined flush with the rounded side posts in a 'Southern Official' style, but unusually the back splats are made up of four rounded stiles rather than a single, wider flat support. Each chair boasts double braces at the sides
